Ashgabat Welcomes Readers to US–Turkmen Book Festival

Ashgabat is set to host a unique cultural event as the State Library of Turkmenistan welcomes visitors to the American-Turkmen Book Fair on July 24.

Organized by the US Embassy in Turkmenistan, the fair aims to promote reading, education, and intercultural dialogue, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.

The event will kick off at 11:00 a.m. (GMT+5), offering a diverse program that includes book exhibits, interactive activities, and a creative zone designed to spark inspiration and literary engagement among attendees.

One of the fair’s main attractions will be the internationally recognized Spelling Bee competition, where participants will test their English language skills and vocabulary in a spirited, friendly contest.

Adding to the literary atmosphere, US Embassy diplomats will take part in live readings, sharing some of their favorite books and personal insights into American literature and storytelling traditions.

The fair is free and open to the public, welcoming students, educators, book lovers, and all those interested in cultural and educational enrichment.

Organizers hope the event will serve as a meaningful platform for strengthening people-to-people ties between Turkmenistan and the US, showcasing the power of literature to bring communities together.
