Turkmenistan, Mauritania Move to Boost Transport and Logistics Cooperation

Turkmenistan and Mauritania have expressed keen interest in deepening their transport and logistics ties.

The matter was discussed during a meeting between Ambassador Vepa Hajiyev, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office at Geneva, and representatives from the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

The two sides reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation and explored opportunities for further collaboration, with a particular focus on sustainable development and enhancing transport connectivity between the nations.

Both parties underscored the importance of boosting regional and interregional links, especially for landlocked developing countries (LLDCs). The upcoming Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), scheduled for August 5-8 in Avaza, was highlighted as a key event to advance these shared goals.

Mauritania’s strategic location in West Africa, with direct access to the Atlantic Ocean, positions it as an important transit partner for landlocked Turkmenistan. This cooperation aligns with Turkmenistan’s broader initiative to optimize and expand its logistics infrastructure to improve access to global markets.
