Turkmenistan has been selected to host matches of the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, which will take place from October 13 to 19, 2025, under the umbrella of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The draw ceremony for the tournament will be held on August 7, determining the composition of the groups, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
A total of 27 national teams will participate in the qualifying round, to be divided into eight groups. Only the group winners will earn a place in the final tournament, scheduled to be held in China in 2026.
According to the AFC’s seeding system, Turkmenistan’s U-17 women’s national team has been placed in Pot 3, alongside the teams of Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Guam, Mongolia, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Tajikistan.
Hosting the qualification matches is seen as a major milestone for women’s football development in Turkmenistan. It provides young female athletes with a rare chance to compete on home ground against international teams and serves as a catalyst for greater participation and visibility of women in sports across the country.
