Turkmenistan, South Korea Strengthen Medical Partnership with Training Program

An intensive clinical training program for Turkmen medical professionals has been officially launched at the Yangsan Medical Center of Pusan National University, marking a significant step in the growing medical partnership between Turkmenistan and South Korea.

The initiative represents the third stage of cooperation under a bilateral agreement between the Graduate School of Traditional Korean Medicine at Pusan National University and Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.

As part of the program, doctors from Turkmenistan will undergo advanced training and upskilling in acupuncture and traditional Korean medicine practices across various departments of the Eastern medicine center through mid-August.

The Turkmen delegation includes specialists in neurology, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric burn surgery, and physiotherapy. All participants are affiliated with major medical institutions in Turkmenistan and bring diverse expertise to the program.

Turkmenistan has made the adoption of cutting-edge medical technologies and the integration of traditional Eastern medicine a key component of its healthcare development strategy. South Korea, known for blending centuries-old practices with cutting-edge medical research, has emerged as a vital partner in this effort. Since 2023, Pusan National University has been actively involved in training Turkmen medical professionals.

The launch of the training program coincides with the recent establishment of direct air service between Turkmenistan and South Korea-an improvement that organizers say will enhance people-to-people exchanges and bolster bilateral cooperation.

Turkmen doctors expressed their strong commitment to fully utilizing this opportunity, with the goal of bringing Korean medical knowledge and advanced treatment techniques back home. Their participation is expected to contribute significantly to the promotion of traditional medicine in Turkmenistan and improve access to high-quality healthcare services.
