A cultural event titled “Turkmen-Uzbek Relations - At a New Historical Stage” has been held in Tashkent to commemorate the 34th anniversaries of independence of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The event celebrated the growing friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring nations, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
The celebration was jointly organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan, the Committee for Interethnic Relations and Affairs with Compatriots Abroad of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Turkmen National Cultural Center.
The gathering was attended by high-ranking officials, representatives of national cultural centers, academics, Turkmen and Uzbek students, and members of the press. Key speakers included Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan Shadurdy Meredov, Chairman of the Committee, Uzbek MP Kakhkhar Sariev and Head of the Turkmen National Cultural Center Gulnabat Avezdurdiyeva.
In his address, Ambassador Meredov highlighted Turkmenistan’s achievements since independence and emphasized the dynamic progress in Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan bilateral relations, which he described as having reached a new and higher level of cooperation across political, economic, and cultural spheres.
The event concluded with a festive concert program featuring traditional music and dance. Highlights included a performance of the Turkmen national dance “Kushtdepdi,” presented by artists from the Turkmen National Cultural Center, the State Philharmonic of Uzbekistan, and Turkmen students.
The evening underscored the enduring cultural and diplomatic ties between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to strengthening their partnership in the years to come.
