US-Uzbekistan Military Ties Strong, Officials Confirm

At an event in Washington celebrating Uzbekistan’s 33rd Armed Forces Day, hosted at Uzbekistan's Embassy, officials from both Uzbekistan and the U.S. - including civilian and military leaders - acknowledged their ongoing efforts to strengthen their partnership, with a focus on defense, security, and regional stability, particularly in relation to Afghanistan.

Most of the American planes and helicopters flown to Uzbekistan by Afghan pilots who fled the Taliban in August 2021 were later donated to the country, The Caspian Post reports citing Voice of America.

Seven of the assets the Pentagon deemed suitable, including Black Hawk helicopters, have now been returned to the United States, officials confirmed.
