During the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Khalillullo Turakhujaev, Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee, and Yoon Soo Hyun, President of the Korea Consumer Agency, have held a bilateral meeting to exchange valuable insights and best practices on consumer rights protection.
The officials also reviewed current regulatory frameworks, and explored opportunities to deepen collaboration between Uzbekistan and South Korea in this important area, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Uzbekistan and South Korea maintain a growing bilateral relationship marked by expanding economic, cultural, and diplomatic ties. Since Uzbekistan’s independence in 1991, South Korea has become one of its key partners in East Asia, investing heavily in sectors such as manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure. The two countries collaborate actively in trade, technology, and education, with South Korea supporting Uzbekistan’s modernization efforts.
Uzbekistan, located in Central Asia, is rich in natural resources and strategically positioned along historic Silk Road trade routes. South Korea, an economic powerhouse in East Asia, is known for its advanced technology and innovation. Together, they share a mutual interest in strengthening cooperation in areas like consumer protection, digital economy, and sustainable development, fostering a partnership that bridges Asia’s heartland with its dynamic Pacific rim.
