Uzbek Leader Takes Part in Beijing’s Historic 80th Victory Anniversary Parade

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has taken part in a grand military parade at Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II, during his official visit to China.

The ceremony brought together leaders and representatives from more than 20 countries, including Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Vietnam, and Egypt, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

In his address, Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted the significance of preserving historical memory, maintaining peace, and promoting justice in the modern international arena.

The parade featured 45 formations of the People’s Liberation Army and displayed China’s latest military hardware, including advanced missile systems, tanks, aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Beijing has hosted military parades of this scale since 1949, with the previous major parade held on October 1, 2019, involving around 15,000 participants.

President Mirziyoyev’s attendance highlighted Uzbekistan’s commitment to fostering international friendship, mutual understanding, and constructive dialogue, reinforcing the country’s foreign policy focus on peace, sustainable development, and regional and global cooperation.
