Director of Uzbekistan’s Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, Abdulla Azizov, has held talks with a representative of Galenicum, a Spanish pharmaceutical company, to explore potential cooperation and investment opportunities in the country.
Founded in 2003 in Barcelona, Galenicum is a fully integrated pharmaceutical firm engaged in research and development, manufacturing, product registration, and global distribution, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
The company operates in over 50 countries, employs more than 800 professionals, and reports an annual revenue exceeding 300 million euros.
At the meeting, the Galenicum representative expressed strong interest in localizing pharmaceutical production in Uzbekistan, transferring cutting-edge technologies, and pursuing direct investment to contribute to the country’s growing pharmaceutical sector.
Azizov welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the government's commitment to supporting international investors in the health and pharma industries. He confirmed that the Agency is prepared to provide comprehensive institutional support to facilitate Galenicum’s entry into the Uzbek market and to establish a strategic, long-term partnership.
The potential collaboration reflects Uzbekistan’s broader efforts to attract foreign investment and expand domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities, in line with national healthcare modernization goals.
