Uzbekistan, Pakistan Explore New Frontiers in Defense Cooperation

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, has met with Pakistan’s Minister for Defense Production, Hayat Harraj, in Islamabad to explore new avenues for defense cooperation, signaling a growing strategic partnership between the two nations.

The meeting focused on expanding bilateral collaboration in defense and defense production, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthening ties in this critical sector, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

Officials from both countries acknowledged the positive trajectory of Uzbekistan-Pakistan relations, noting steady progress across multiple domains-including military-technical cooperation-and underscored the priority placed on these relations by the respective heads of state.

The talks emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation not only in defense, but also in the political, economic, and scientific-technical spheres, leveraging the two countries' shared historical and cultural bonds amid shifting regional and global security dynamics.

Minister Harraj praised recent advancements in defense collaboration and highlighted ongoing efforts to institutionalize bilateral dialogue, noting the establishment of a joint platform for developing and executing defense-related projects.

In response to evolving global military challenges, both parties discussed joint initiatives focused on emerging technologies, including the strategic use of science and technology parks in both nations to drive defense innovation.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to facilitate reciprocal high-level visits, aimed at advancing in-depth discussions and translating strategic goals into practical outcomes.
