Residents of Uzbekistan are set to experience the longest day and shortest night of the year as the summer solstice arrives on June 21.
The astronomical event marks the moment when the Northern Hemisphere receives its maximum amount of daylight, making it the brightest day of 2026 for millions across the country, The Caspian Post reports via Upl.uz.
In Tashkent and other regions of Uzbekistan, the sun will remain above the horizon for more than 15 hours, giving people an extended day to enjoy outdoor activities and the start of the summer season.
The summer solstice occurs when Earth's Northern Hemisphere is tilted most directly toward the Sun, resulting in the year's longest period of daylight and the shortest night.
Beginning on June 22, daylight hours will gradually start to decrease, while nights become longer. This seasonal shift will continue over the coming months until the winter solstice in December, when Uzbekistan experiences its shortest day and longest night of the year.
