Uzbekistan, Russia Boost Fisheries Cooperation at Key Tashkent Session

Tashkent has hosted the second session of the Uzbekistan-Russia Joint Fisheries Commission - a major platform aimed at modernizing the sector, expanding scientific and technical cooperation, and launching new joint projects.

The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kahramon Yuldashev, joined by representatives of key agencies. Russia was represented by Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Fishery Andrey Yakovlev and members of the joint commission, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

During the session, the sides reviewed the outcomes of the first meeting in Moscow and assessed progress on previously reached agreements. Officials noted a significant increase in bilateral activity, with practical cooperation expanding in multiple areas.

A major part of the discussions focused on the current state of Uzbekistan’s fisheries sector - the development of existing clusters, introduction of modern technologies, and long-term growth prospects.

The Russian side expressed strong interest in expanding aquaculture, developing productive fish breeds, and increasing the export potential of Uzbek producers.

The participants also discussed the results of ongoing projects, shared accumulated experience, and explored new initiatives, including innovative fish-farming technologies, the creation of joint research centers, training of specialists, and broader exchange of practical expertise.

By the end of the session, both countries agreed to deepen cooperation, scale up current projects, and develop new areas of collaboration aimed at improving sector efficiency and strengthening bilateral ties.
