Uzbekistan, Russia's Magadan Explore Transport, Trade Ties

Advisor to the Chairman of the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jamil Maksudi, has held talks with Alexander Basansky, First Deputy Chairman of the Magadan Regional Duma and head of the board of Russia’s major gold-mining company Arbat.

Arbat is one of Russia’s largest gold producers, employing more than 5,000 people - including 1,200 citizens of Uzbekistan, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

During the meeting, the sides discussed expanding cooperation in transport and logistics, including the possibility of launching direct Tashkent-Magadan flights. Such a route, they noted, could boost business ties, tourism, and closer regional engagement.

The parties also explored opportunities in export cooperation. Uzbekistan proposed supplying food and agricultural products to the Magadan market, improving logistics and certification processes, and developing joint processing projects.

Industrial cooperation was another key focus - including improving product quality, exchanging standards and technologies, and organizing mutual business delegations.

Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, increase bilateral trade, and develop new joint projects.
