Uzbekistan, Russia’s Saint Petersburg Boost Trade, Economic and Cultural Links

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has met with a Russian delegation led by Alexander Beglov, Governor of Saint Petersburg, to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

Talks centered on advancing economic projects and boosting cultural and humanitarian exchanges with Saint Petersburg, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

Last year, mutual trade at the regional level increased by 20 per cent, and new initiatives are underway, including the opening of a Business Center in Tashkent and the creation of a “Saint Petersburg Quarter” within the New Tashkent district.

The two sides signed a roadmap for 23 joint projects, covering metallurgy, instrument engineering, road construction, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, food processing, agriculture, logistics, and other industries. They also expressed support for initiatives in private healthcare, education, utilities, digital technologies, migration, and tourism.

Strengthening humanitarian ties was a key focus, with plans for the regular organization of joint cultural events. The parties also agreed to coordinate preparations for the second session of the Uzbekistan-Russia Council of Regions, scheduled for October 2025.
