Uzbekistan has hailed the Silk Road Working Group meeting in Azerbaijan as a major boost for collaboration among the Organization for Economic Cooperation (OEC) member states.
The inaugural Silk Road Working Group meeting under the OEC has commenced in Azerbaijan's Sheki city, focusing on enhancing cooperation, connectivity, and cultural exchange among member nations, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
The event gathers representatives from OEC member states to discuss strategies for deepening economic ties, promoting tourism, and boosting cultural collaboration.
Speaking to reporters, Farrukh Ermatov, Head of the International Cooperation Department at the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in driving sustainable economic growth in the region.
“Tourism remains a key driver that unites countries, creates new jobs, fosters cultural understanding, and helps address potential challenges. This meeting serves as a crucial platform for tackling obstacles that impede necessary decisions,” Ermatov said.
The working group aims to develop actionable plans for regional projects, strengthen people-to-people connections, and unlock the shared economic and cultural potential of OEC member states, reinforcing the Silk Road legacy in the modern era.
