Deputy Mayor of Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent Durdona Rakhimova has met with a high-level delegation from the Republic of Korea led by Kim Tae-kyun, First Administrative Deputy Mayor of Seoul, to explore opportunities for deepening cooperation between the two capitals.
The meeting, held at Tashkent City Hall, focused on the growing strategic ties between Uzbekistan and South Korea, as well as the vibrant partnership between Tashkent and Seoul, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.
Rakhimova outlined several ongoing investment and infrastructure projects in the city involving South Korean companies and reiterated Tashkent's interest in expanding collaboration in areas such as urban development, innovation, and economic partnerships.
Kim Tae-kyun commended Tashkent’s development progress and its emergence as a promising investment destination, noting the city's transformation in recent years.
As a gesture of continued friendship and collaboration, Kim Tae-kyun officially invited Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov to participate in the Metropolis Congress, which will mark the 40th anniversary of the global network of major cities. The congress is set to take place on September 29, 2025, in Seoul, bringing together city leaders from around the world to exchange ideas on sustainable urban growth, innovation, and global city governance.
