Uzbekistan, Tajikistan Expand Parliamentary Partnership

During the third meeting of parliamentary leaders from Central Asia and the Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan’s Senate Chairwoman Tanzila Norbaeva has met with Deputy Speaker of the Tajik parliament Aziz Giyozoda, with a focus on expanding women’s participation in socio-political life.

Both sides noted that the strong and trusting relationship between the leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan creates a solid foundation for advancing their strategic partnership, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The discussion focused on the outcomes of the latest meeting of parliamentary leaders from Central Asia and South Korea, as well as the importance of the Cooperation Agreement between the upper chambers of the two countries’ parliaments.

The participants highlighted the effective work of the joint commission and the active engagement of Uzbek and Tajik delegations in international parliamentary platforms, including the plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly held in Dushanbe. Particular attention was paid to expanding women’s participation in socio-political life, sharing legislative experience, and strengthening cooperation in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, and environmental areas.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to deepen inter-parliamentary dialogue and further develop interregional cooperation.
