Natia Ioseliani, spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC), has said that the final voter turnout in Georgia’s nationwide municipal elections reached 40.93 per cent.
A total of 1,438,116 citizens cast their ballots, representing just over 40 per cent of the country’s registered voters, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Ioseliani noted that the CEC had received 24 official complaints as of the close of polls. Most involved minor procedural issues, including the use of photo and video equipment, polling station organization, and voter registration irregularities outside official locations.
The local elections were held on October 4, with 3,061 polling stations operating nationwide. Twelve political parties participated in the vote, which elected mayors and municipal representatives across Georgia’s regions.
