Georgia and Argentina have signed a new aviation cooperation agreement that paves the way for expanded air connectivity, offering travelers more flexible routes between the two countries and beyond.
The memorandum, signed by Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency and Argentina’s Secretariat of Transport under the Ministry of Economy, allows airlines from both countries to operate regular scheduled flights between any destinations in Georgia and Argentina without route restrictions, The Caspian Post reports via Sputnik Georgia.
The agreement also opens the door for codeshare partnerships between Georgian and Argentine airlines, as well as with third-country carriers. This will enable passengers to book seamless journeys on a single ticket, including connecting flights operated by partner airlines, even in the absence of direct services.
The memorandum aligns with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) strategy to promote the liberalization of global air transport and strengthen international connectivity.
For Georgia, the agreement establishes a legal framework for expanding access to distant markets while supporting stronger economic, tourism, and aviation ties with Argentina and other international partners.
