Trade between Georgia and Armenia climbed sharply in the first five months of 2026, with bilateral turnover increasing 49.4% year-on-year to $421.5 million.
Georgia maintained a positive trade balance, with exports continuing to exceed imports. However, the strongest growth came from imports from Armenia, The Caspian Post reports via BM.GE.
Between January and May 2026, Georgia's imports from Armenia nearly doubled, rising 98.5% to $166.1 million. The surge made Armenia Georgia's ninth-largest import partner, accounting for 2.3% of the country's total imports during the period.
The latest figures highlight the strengthening economic ties between the two neighboring countries and growing cross-border trade in the South Caucasus.
