Georgia's natural gas supply is expected to remain largely stable in 2026, with total deliveries projected to reach 3.34 billion cubic meters, alongside an approved gas balance, said the Ministry of Economy.
The forecasted volume is nearly unchanged from the estimated 3.32 billion cubic meters planned for 2025, The Caspian Post reports, citing Georgia Today.
Azerbaijan will remain Georgia’s dominant gas supplier, accounting for 87.6% of total imports. In absolute terms, Georgia is set to receive approximately 2.93 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan next year. This includes 1.17 billion cubic meters supplied under the official Shah Deniz agreement, an additional 478.2 million cubic meters of Shah Deniz gas and 1.28 billion cubic meters purchased directly from SOCAR.Russia is expected to supply 400 million cubic meters of gas in 2026 while domestic production will contribute a relatively small share of about 14 million cubic meters.
On the consumption side, the gas balance indicates no significant growth in demand. Total gas consumption in 2026 is projected at around 3.28 billion cubic meters. The social sector will remain the largest consumer, using more than 2.3 billion cubic meters in total.
Households are expected to account for 1.66 billion cubic meters of gas consumption while the commercial sector is forecast to use nearly 967 million cubic meters. Thermal power plants are projected to consume about 657 million cubic meters over the year.
Overall, the 2026 gas balance suggests continuity in both supply structure and demand levels, with Azerbaijan maintaining its role as Georgia’s primary energy partner and no major shifts anticipated in consumption patterns
