Georgian Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze has said that the rally held outside the presidential residence in Tbilisi escalated into violence, leaving 14 officers from the Interior Ministry injured.
Speaking at a press briefing, Darakhvelidze noted that one of the injured officers is in serious condition, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
The deputy minister also confirmed that several demonstrators were detained, though the precise number has not been disclosed.
In the aftermath of the incident, the Interior Ministry has launched an official investigation into the events leading to the confrontation.
The protest, which was reportedly linked to growing dissatisfaction with government policy, drew significant attention as tensions flared between protesters and law enforcement, raising fresh concerns over public safety and political unrest in the capital.
