A wildfire has broken out this afternoon in the Small Almaty Forestry section of Ile-Alatau National Park in Kazakhstan.
The blaze was first spotted around 12:15 p.m., Bekzat Baishalov, head of the Almaty Aviation Division of the Kazakh Forest Aviation Protection Service, said, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
Fire crews were immediately dispatched, deploying two fire engines and four specialists to the scene.
Authorities classified the fire as medium intensity, but emphasized that it posed no immediate threat to nearby communities or key tourist routes. Emergency responders maintained full control of the situation as operations continued.
In total, 25 personnel, eight specialized vehicles, and one firefighting helicopter were involved in battling the flames. Teams from the Forest Aviation Protection Service, Ile-Alatau National Park, and the Almaty Emergency Department worked together, combining aerial water drops with ground-based firefighting efforts.
By 2:20 p.m., emergency services confirmed the fire had been fully contained.
Preliminary assessments show that the blaze affected approximately 1.7 hectares of forested land. Officials are now investigating the cause of the fire.
