The Senate of Kazakhstan has approved amendments banning the public promotion of pedophilia and non-traditional sexual orientation.
The legislation, passed in two readings, aims to protect children from content harmful to their health and development, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The law restricts the dissemination of such material in public spaces, media, telecommunications networks, and online platforms.
Member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan from Karaganda region Sergei Ershov noted that the amendment to the “Law on Child Rights” introduces a direct ban on promoting non-traditional sexual orientation, a topic actively debated in society.
