Kazakhstan and Georgia have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding strategic cooperation after Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held talks with his Georgian counterpart Irakli Kobakhidze during the latter's official visit to Astana.

The meeting focused on boosting collaboration in trade, investment, transport and logistics, energy, and digitalization, while advancing the agreements previously reached between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

Bektenov described Georgia as "a reliable friend and key strategic partner" for Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus and Black Sea region, emphasizing the government's readiness to deepen political dialogue and expand practical cooperation across multiple sectors.

Kobakhidze, in turn, called Kazakhstan one of Georgia's most important partners and highlighted significant opportunities to further strengthen bilateral ties.

Following the talks, both sides reaffirmed their governments' commitment to enhancing the strategic partnership and implementing new joint initiatives aimed at delivering tangible economic results.

Economic cooperation between the two countries continues to grow. Bilateral trade reached $184.5 million in 2025, while trade turnover totaled $53 million during January-April 2026. More than 600 companies with Georgian capital are currently operating in Kazakhstan, reflecting expanding business ties.

Earlier in the day, the Palace of Independence in Astana hosted an official welcoming ceremony for Kobakhidze, underscoring the importance both countries place on strengthening their long-term partnership.
