Kazakhstan, US Explore New Horizons in Bilateral Talks at UN General Assembly

On the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu has held high-level bilateral meetings with senior officials, including US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, with whom he reviewed the current state and future prospects of the Kazakhstan-US relations.

Both sides emphasized the positive and steady momentum in cooperation, built on mutual trust and shared strategic interests, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

Minister Nurtleu highlighted Kazakhstan’s pivotal role as the largest economy in Central Asia and a key Eurasian hub supporting the United States’ economic presence in the region, stressing the importance of expanding their strategic partnership.

During the meeting with Robert Dussey, Foreign Minister of Togo, the two countries noted the continuous growth of bilateral relations. The talks culminated in signing an agreement granting visa exemptions to holders of diplomatic and service passports, facilitating easier diplomatic exchanges.

With Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Austria’s Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, discussions focused on deepening political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. Both parties agreed on intensifying bilateral dialogue and strengthening collaboration through the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council.

Talks with Badr Al-Busaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman, explored opportunities to enhance trade, economic, and investment partnerships. Both sides also acknowledged the importance of coordinated efforts in international organizations to advance sustainable development and global security.

Discussions with Ararat Mirzoyan, Foreign Minister of Armenia, centered on bilateral and multilateral cooperation, particularly regarding preparations for the Armenian Prime Minister’s forthcoming official visit to Kazakhstan.

In a meeting with Maksim Ryzhenkov, Belarusian Foreign Minister, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to developing political dialogue and expanding trade, economic, humanitarian, and interregional cooperation.

Finally, in talks with Constantinos Kombos, Foreign Minister of Cyprus, recent bilateral visits were reviewed and new areas of cooperation identified in transport, energy, agriculture, and digitalization. Kazakhstan also expressed its readiness to collaborate closely with Cyprus during its upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union.
