Kazakhstan is stepping up its commitment to fair competition, signing a new memorandum of understanding with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to deepen cooperation in the fight against doping.

The agreement was formalized during a high-level meeting between Sports Minister Yerbol Myrzabossynov and WADA President Witold Bańka on the sidelines of the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Toruń, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The deal underscores Kazakhstan’s growing role in promoting clean sport and aligns with national efforts to expand international cooperation and strengthen anti-doping policies. WADA’s Bańka praised the country’s progress, highlighting support from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Kazakhstan’s contribution to scientific research in anti-doping.

Looking ahead, both sides discussed the possibility of hosting WADA’s Executive Committee and Foundation Board meetings in Astana in 2027-an indication of Kazakhstan’s rising influence in global sports governance.

Officials also emphasized the importance of education and innovation, with the Kazakh National University of Sport emerging as a potential hub for training specialists and advancing anti-doping knowledge across Central Asia.
