A medical student, Rahul Ghosalya, who was airlifted from Kazakhstan on the day of Diwali for treatment at the SMS Hospital in Jaipur, succumbed to a brain haemorrhage on Sunday, The Caspian Post informs via The Statesman.
Rahul, a native of Naya Bas village in the Shahpura subdivision of Jaipur district, was pursuing an MBBS course at a medical College in Kazakhstan. He suffered a brain haemorrhage on October 8 while studying in his college library. After receiving first aid, he was admitted to the local medical College hospital, where he was put on ventilator support following confirmation of the brain haemorrhage in diagnostic tests.
Responding to a humanitarian appeal from Rahul’s family and the local MLA from Shahpura, Manish Yadav, the Ministry of External Affairs, along with several organisations working in India and abroad, including the Rajasthan Association of North America (RANA), arranged for Rahul’s airlift to Jaipur by an air ambulance.
He was subsequently brought to Jaipur on October 21 (Diwali) and admitted to the Neuro-ICU of SMS Hospital. His treatment was carried out under the supervision of a medical board constituted by the Principal of SMS Medical College, Dr Deepak Maheshwari, and the Medical Superintendent, Dr Mrinal Joshi.
However, despite being on high-dose medication for more than 10 days, Rahul did not respond to the treatment and breathed his last on Sunday, Dr Joshi said.
