Kyrgyzstan Among Eight Countries Featured at 36th Russia Documentary Film Festival

The 36th Open International Documentary Film Festival “Russia” will take place in Yekaterinburg from October 1 to 6, featuring 33 films selected for the competition program from a total of 510 submissions from Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan.

A key focus of the festival program will be on themes such as the value of labor, strong family traditions, and the precedence of spiritual over material pursuits, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

Among the selected works, Kyrgyz filmmaker Altynay Adamalieva will present her documentary “The Rock”, which tells the story of a woman with three university degrees who leaves city life behind to herd yaks.

First held in 1988, the “Russia” Festival is one of the country’s oldest and most respected film forums, ranking alongside Kinotavr and Message to a Man. Its juries have included renowned figures such as Elem Klimov, Gleb Panfilov, Alexander Mitta, Sergei Puskepalis, and Vladimir Menshov. The event is organized with support from the Russian Ministry of Culture.
