Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev has taken the spotlight at the 24th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government, outlining key priorities for the country’s chairmanship and presenting new initiatives aimed at boosting regional cooperation.
Kasymaliev stressed that Kyrgyzstan is committed to strengthening the SCO’s global role and advancing its position within the international economic system, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz media.
He highlighted several core directions, including streamlined trade procedures powered by the Smart Customs system, which has cut cargo release times from five hours to just one.
He also underscored major transport projects such as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, the Barskoon-Bedel-Aksu international road, and expanded air routes linking SCO members with Southeast Asia - including a second air corridor with China.
On finance, Kasymaliev called for wider use of national currencies and reiterated the importance of creating an SCO Development Bank. He also pushed digitalization as a growth engine, proposing regional data centers and high-performance computing hubs in Kyrgyzstan.
Kasymaliev said that cooperation is already showing strong momentum: Kyrgyzstan’s trade with SCO member states has grown 3.5 times since 2020, with member states now accounting for 75 per cent of the country’s total trade. Nearly 8 million SCO citizens visited Kyrgyzstan in the first nine months of 2025 alone.
