Kyrgyzstan to Double Teacher and Doctor Salaries in 2026

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has announced that starting April 1, 2026, Kyrgyzstan will double the salaries of teachers and healthcare workers.

President Japarov made these remarks at the People’s Kurultai (assembly), The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

Initially planned as a 50 per cent increase, the pay rise was boosted to 100 per cent following presidential compensation measures.

Teacher salaries will jump from an average of 26,000 som ($297) to 52,000 som ($594), with variations based on experience, qualifications, location, and subjects taught. For instance, a young city teacher will earn around 36,800 som ($420), while a senior math teacher in a remote area could see pay rise to 97,600 som ($1,116).

Healthcare workers will see similar gains, with average doctor salaries increasing from 31,500 som ($360) to 62,500 som ($614). A beginner doctor in a city will earn 35,500 som ($406) net, while an experienced doctor in a mountainous region could earn 75,700 som ($865).

The salary boost will also extend to artists, coaches, and technical staff, improving take-home pay across these essential sectors. These measures aim to strengthen Kyrgyzstan’s education and healthcare systems and significantly enhance workers’ financial well-being.
