Governor of Russia’s Omsk region Vitaly Khotsenko has announced that Omsk is set to deepen its collaboration with several regions of Kyrgyzstan.
Khotsenko made these remarks during a recent meeting with Kubanychbek Bokontaev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Russian Federation, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The meeting, held in Moscow, focused on expanding mutually beneficial partnerships across key sectors, including the petrochemical industry, agro-industrial development, education, and cultural exchange.
“Kyrgyzstan remains a vital foreign trade partner for Omsk region. We are actively developing partnerships with its regions and have already signed cooperation agreements with Osh, Chui, and Issyk-Kul,” Khotsenko emphasized.
The discussions also underscored the growing humanitarian ties between Omsk and Kyrgyzstan. Currently, a significant number of Kyrgyz students are enrolled at Omsk universities, while the city, recognized as Russia’s youth capital, actively engages Kyrgyz youth in various projects.
Looking ahead, the two sides plan to host major joint cultural events in 2026, when Omsk takes on the role of Russia’s cultural capital, further solidifying the bond between the regions.
