NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has said that NATO member states are expected to announce defense contracts worth tens of billions of dollars during the alliance's summit in Ankara on July 7-8.
Rutte said leaders gathering in the Turkish capital will unveil major agreements involving defense companies from Europe and North America, The Caspian Post reports via The Washington Post.
"When leaders gather in Ankara, we will announce new contracts worth tens of billions of dollars with companies from Europe and North America. We will also demonstrate how we are investing in critical technologies to meet today's and tomorrow's security needs," Rutte wrote.
He added that the summit will showcase how NATO allies are increasing defense investment, reshaping their collective security strategy, and strengthening the alliance's industrial base.
The two-day summit is expected to focus on key security challenges facing the Euro-Atlantic region, including continued support for Ukraine, strengthening NATO's southern flank, and addressing emerging global threats.
