Archaeologists Unearth Medieval Coins in Southern Tajikistan

Archaeologists from the Tajik Agency for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage have uncovered two copper coins dating to the Timurid (15th-16th centuries) and Manghit (16th-17th centuries) periods during excavations on a burial mound near the Bibikhonum Museum in Bokhtar, Khatlon Region.

The finds, made on the first day of the dig, also include ceramic fragments and broken jugs, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.

The research, running from August 12 to 17, is part of efforts to explore Tajikistan’s rich archaeological heritage.
