Bilateral Trade Between Russia and Tajikistan Hits $1.68B

Russian Ambassador to Dushanbe Semyon Grigoriev has said that trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan grew by more than 17 per cent in the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, surpassing $1.68 billion.

“Russia has remained one of Tajikistan’s key economic and trade partners for decades,” Grigoriev said, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.

In 2024, Russia accounted for 22.1 per cent of Tajikistan’s foreign trade, while in January-September 2025, its share was 21.5 per cent, reflecting stable and systematic bilateral economic ties.

Trade is dominated by imports from Russia, including oil products, food, agricultural raw materials, chemicals, wood and paper products, metals, and metal goods. Positive growth has been recorded in most of these sectors this year.

The ambassador highlighted future growth opportunities: expanding Russian exports of food, building materials, ferrous metals, and processed goods, alongside increased Tajik exports of agricultural products, processed foods, and textiles to Russia. Early vegetables, fruits, and high-value products like dried fruits and processed foods remain in strong demand.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon discussed plans to increase bilateral trade 2.5 times by 2030, signaling a strong push for deeper economic cooperation.
