Tajik Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma has said that Tajikistan is on track to complete its integration into the Central Asian unified energy system in the first half of 2026.
Juma made these remarks at the 67th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The minister highlighted the importance of strengthening regional energy cooperation, noting that Tajikistan is working to reconnect its national grid to the unified Central Asian system to boost reliability and efficiency.
He noted that the southwestern section of Tajikistan’s energy network was successfully connected to the regional grid in June 2024. The northern section is expected to be linked in the first half of 2026, marking the final step in the full reintegration process.
The minister also updated attendees on the progress of the CASA-1000 international energy project. Both the Tajik and Kyrgyz segments of the transmission lines have already been completed, paving the way for future electricity exports from the region.
“Tajikistan is using every opportunity to maximize its vast hydropower potential. Several hydropower plants are under construction, including the Rogun HPP with an installed capacity of 3,780 MW,” Juma added.
