Tajik Women’s Football Team Drops to 158th in Latest FIFA Rankings

The FIFA Women’s World Rankings have been updated, with the Tajik women’s national football team now placed 158th with 950.20 points, slipping three spots.

The ranking includes 196 national teams in total, The Caspian Post informs per Tajik media.

At the top of the rankings, a new leader emerged: Spain, which recently reached the final of the UEFA Women’s Euro, has overtaken the US, now in second place.

Rounding out the top five are Sweden, England, and Germany, while France, Brazil, Japan, Canada, and North Korea complete the top ten. The next ranking update is scheduled for September 11, 2025.

FIFA Women’s Rankings - Top 10 (Points):

England - 2022.64

Germany - 2011.56

North Korea - 1944.22

Top 10 Asian Teams: Japan (8th), North Korea (10th), Australia (15th), China (16th), South Korea (21st), Vietnam (37th), Philippines (39th), Chinese Taipei (42nd), Uzbekistan (52nd), Thailand (53rd).

Central Asia Women’s Rankings:

Uzbekistan - 1487.67 points (52nd)

Kazakhstan - 1175.94 points (108th)

Turkmenistan - 1063.88 points (138th)

Kyrgyzstan - 1062.41 points (139th)

Tajikistan - 950.20 points (158th)

Tajikistan’s neighbors hold higher positions, highlighting the competitiveness in the region. Across Asia, mid-tier ranking battles are intense, with teams such as India (+39.78 points) and Bangladesh (+80.51 points) making significant progress.

The decline of Tajikistan is concerning. The main factor is the results of recent matches; the team lost several games, costing 26.73 ranking points. Limited victories at the official level directly affect the team’s standing.

Another challenge is the lack of international match practice. Unlike many competitors that regularly hold training camps and friendly matches with strong opponents, Tajikistan has mostly participated only in mandatory tournaments in recent months.

Although the current 158th place is worrying, the team has potential for improvement. Moving up the rankings will require a systematic approach, including enhanced coaching, improved training infrastructure, and more international exposure.
