Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon has announced plans to create 1.4 million jobs over the next five years, aiming to strengthen the national economy and improve citizens’ living standards.
Speaking to parliament, Rahmon noted that the country’s working-age population has grown by around 880,000 over the past decade, with more than 200,000 new jobs created annually and over 150,000 vocational graduates entering the workforce each year, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
The president stressed the role of the Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Employment, along with other government bodies, in addressing employment challenges. Key priorities include safeguarding workers’ rights, maintaining accurate workforce data, improving social protection, and creating jobs for women, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
Special focus will be placed on supporting small businesses and crafts, enhancing working conditions, and promoting employment in rural areas. Rahmon emphasized that successful implementation of these plans will require close cooperation among local authorities, ministries, and relevant stakeholders.
