Tajikistan continues attracting increasing numbers of foreign visitors, primarily from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, while also seeing a rise in tourists from farther abroad.
More than 925,700 foreign nationals visited Tajikistan in the first half of 2025 - an increase of 177,400 visitors (23.7 per cent) compared to the same period last year, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
Of these, 850,600 visitors (91.9 per cent) came from CIS member states, with 699,400 traveling for tourism purposes.
The largest group of foreign arrivals came from Uzbekistan, accounting for over 527,000 visitors (56.9 per cent) of the total.
Other key CIS source countries included:
Russia: 248,500 (26.8 per cent)
Kyrgyzstan: 49,500
Kazakhstan: 17,800
Turkmenistan: 3,200
Tajikistan also welcomed tourists from more distant nations such as China, Afghanistan, Iran, the US, Türkiye, Germany, India, among others.
Using World Tourism Organization standards, more than 762,300 of these visitors are classified as tourists, representing a robust 31.3 per cent growth compared to the same timeframe in 2024.
Foreign nationals arriving from non-CIS countries numbered 75,100, including 62,900 tourists.
