Tashkent Unveils Bright Exhibition Celebrating 30 Years of Friendship with Romania

A vibrant new art exhibition celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Uzbekistan will open on November 24, 2025 at the Academy Gallery of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.

The event is organized by the Embassy of Romania in Tashkent together with the Kamoliddin Behzod Institute of Fine Arts and Design, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Romania was among the first countries to recognize Uzbekistan’s independence, and the two nations officially established diplomatic ties on October 6, 1995. Marking the anniversary, Romania’s Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu and Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov exchanged congratulatory letters, highlighting the steady growth of bilateral cooperation.

As part of the celebrations, Romania’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Daniel Cristian Ciobanu delivered a lecture at the Tashkent State University of Economics.

Today, Romania-Uzbekistan relations are rapidly expanding across political, economic, and cultural spheres. Interest from Romanian businesses in the Uzbek market is rising, mutual trade is strengthening, and Romania’s cultural initiatives in Uzbekistan continue to receive warm recognition.

The exhibition, created by students of the Behzod Institute, features 33 paintings and 4 installations. The works draw inspiration from the friendship between Romania and Uzbekistan, the cultural codes of both nations, and symbols reflecting their shared path of cooperation.

Visitors can explore the exhibition on November 24-31, 2025 at the Academy Gallery (35 Sadyk Azimov Street).

The Embassy of Romania invites all art enthusiasts to attend - admission is free.
