Director of the Urbanization Center under the Uzbek Ministry of Construction, Housing and Communal Services Shikhnazar Atadjanov has said that limited land capacity in Uzbekistan’s Andijan region, coupled with high population density, is presenting serious challenges.
Atadjanov made these remarks on the second day of the third National Urban Forum (NUFA3) in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, The Caspian Post informs via local media.
He stressed the importance of secondary cities as vital links between rural areas and major urban centers, enabling economic opportunities and improved quality of life.
“Bolstering the potential of these cities, improving infrastructure, and widening their capacity are key to enhancing living conditions, creating jobs, and discouraging migration,” director of the center said.
He revealed that the Uzbek government has issued a Cabinet decree to tackle these issues, with phased implementation already underway.
