Uzbekistan’s Fergana Region has reached an agreement with Chinese investors to advance renewable energy development, including the construction of wind power plants.
The agreement was achieved during a meeting between Khayrullo Bozorov and a delegation of experienced Chinese investors working in the construction and energy sectors, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The talks focused on launching new foreign-investment projects in the region and identifying additional opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation.
During the discussions, the Chinese side presented a number of large-scale initiatives aimed at supporting the region’s economic growth. Proposed projects include setting up production of high-quality cable products, manufacturing durable cement and concrete materials for the construction industry, developing infrastructure in the “New Uzbekistan” residential area in Margilan, modernizing urban street lighting, and introducing advanced energy-efficient lighting technologies.
Bozorov emphasized that all proposed initiatives would receive full support from regional authorities, with comprehensive assistance provided throughout the implementation process. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to move swiftly toward the practical realization of the approved projects and to accelerate work on the ground.
The talks come amid strengthening economic ties between Uzbekistan and China. In 2025, bilateral trade turnover reached $17.2 billion, marking a 35.4 per cent year-on-year increase and firmly cementing China’s position as Uzbekistan’s largest trading partner.
