Uzbekistan will create a tourist and recreational zone “Fergana” spanning 2,396 hectares in the Fergana region.
The initiative was approved by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and will operate under a special regime for 30 years, with the option to extend, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
The new zone will include areas along the Central Fergana Reservoir in Yazyavan district, with plans to develop tourism services, modern infrastructure, and new jobs for visitors. The project will also focus on agrotourism, including a tourist complex built around the Vodil raspberry cluster, featuring lightweight service facilities and visitor amenities.
Additionally, the Sanoat and Hosilot districts will host agrotourism complexes modeled on international experience, incorporating raspberry plantations, cold storage, and processing enterprises. To boost the zone’s investment appeal, a brand will be developed by March 1, 2026, along with programs for engineering infrastructure and investment project implementation.
