Kazakhstan Becomes Key Trade Partner for Georgia

Between January and November 2025, Kazakhstan emerged as one of Georgia’s top foreign trade partners, ranking second in Georgian exports, preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) show.

Exports of Georgian goods to Kazakhstan reached $849.9 million, up 6.8 per cent compared to the same period in 2024. Kazakhstan accounted for 12.8 per cent of Georgia’s total exports, second only to Kyrgyzstan, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Overall trade turnover between the two countries totaled $925.7 million, with imports from Kazakhstan at $75.8 million, representing 0.5 per cent of Georgia’s total imports. In Georgia’s broader foreign trade structure, Kazakhstan ranked fourth, contributing 4 per cent of total turnover after Türkiye, the US, and Russia.

Georgia’s total foreign trade volume from January to November 2025 stood at $23.22 billion, up 9.5 per cent year-on-year. Exports rose 10.1 per cent to $6.62 billion, while imports increased 9.3 per cent to $16.60 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of $9.98 billion, or 43 per cent of total turnover.

Geostat reported that CIS countries accounted for 70 per cent of Georgia’s exports, with Kazakhstan remaining a key market for Georgian products. Earlier reports noted that rail freight between Kazakhstan and Georgia reached 159,500 tons.
