Kyrgyzstan’s wrestling team delivered strong performances at the ongoing Polyák Imre & Varga János Memorial tournament in Budapest, Hungary highlighted by a bronze medal win in the women’s 76 kg category.
Aiperi Medet Kyzy secured the bronze after a hard-fought victory over a South Korean opponent in the decisive match for third place, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Earlier in the competition, Medet Kyzy triumphed over a wrestler from the US but was eliminated in the semifinals by a competitor from Brazil.
The Kyrgyz presence on the podium extended to men’s freestyle wrestling, where Tayirbek Zhumashbek Uulu took home the silver medal, and Bekzat Almaz Uulu earned bronze, showcasing the country’s growing strength in the sport.
