Russian Drone Strikes Hit Gas Stations in Ukraine's Kharkiv

A new wave of Russian drone attacks has struck Ukraine's Kharkiv city, hitting gas stations and residential areas across multiple districts and leaving several people injured.

The city came under a coordinated assault on May 1, with strikes reported in five districts, including Kholodnohirskyi, Kyivskyi, Saltivskyi, Nemyshlianskyi, and Slobidskyi. The scale of the attack highlights the continued intensity of drone warfare targeting urban infrastructure, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.

In the Kyivskyi district, drones hit a gas station, damaging nearby vehicles and facilities. Another strike in the Slobidskyi district targeted a fuel station, where a 55-year-old man suffered an acute stress reaction and was treated at the scene.

Casualties were also reported in the Saltivskyi district, where a 36-year-old man was wounded by shrapnel and hospitalized. At least three gas stations were directly hit, with a possible fourth strike still under verification.

The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office said additional infrastructure across the region sustained damage, while investigations continue into the type of drones used, with some reports suggesting advanced targeting capabilities.

The strikes are part of a broader escalation, as drone attacks continue across Ukraine. Air defense systems reportedly intercepted many incoming drones, but several still reached targets not only in Kharkiv, but also in regions including Odesa, Mykolaiv, and areas near Dnipro.

Emergency services remain on the ground assessing damage and assisting residents, as authorities work to determine the full impact of the latest strikes.
