Kyrgyzstan will hold its next presidential election on January 24, 2027, after the Constitutional Court confirmed the official timeline in a ruling that clarifies the country’s political roadmap and constitutional order.
According to the Constitutional Court of Kyrgyzstan, the election date falls on the fourth Sunday of January 2027, in line with provisions of the country’s 2021 Constitution and constitutional law, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
The court also confirmed that current President Sadyr Japarov will complete his full six-year term, which began under the previous 2010 Constitution. This term will be counted as his first under the current constitutional rule limiting presidents to two terms.
Judges emphasized that early presidential election can only be held under strictly defined constitutional circumstances, such as voluntary resignation, removal from office, incapacity due to illness, or death. The court noted that public debate or political discussions cannot alter the legally established election timeline.
Under the ruling, the country’s parliament, the Jogorku Kenesh, must officially schedule the election no later than four months before voting day-by September 24, 2026.
