Azerbaijani Leader, Turkmen People’s Council Chairman Discuss Key Turkic States Summit in Gabala

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov, Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, in Gabala to discuss the importance of the upcoming 12th Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States, which will be held in Gabala.

During the meeting, Berdimuhammedov conveyed greetings from Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to President Aliyev. In response, President Aliyev expressed gratitude, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

The two leaders reflected warmly on their previous meetings, including Berdimuhammedov’s visit to Azerbaijan in July 2025.

The summit is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening cooperation among Turkic states and enhancing interethnic ties.

Both sides praised the current state of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations, which are grounded in brotherhood, friendly neighborliness, and cooperation. They noted the deep fraternal traditions uniting their peoples.

The meeting also emphasized the successful development of bilateral collaboration across political, economic, transport, energy, inter-parliamentary, humanitarian, cultural, and educational sectors, alongside effective cooperation within international organizations.

President Aliyev and Chairman Berdimuhammedov exchanged views on prospects for further expanding and deepening bilateral ties.
