Tajik Leader Hosts Bilateral Talks on Trade, Security, and Culture

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has held a series of high-level bilateral meetings with the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan, aimed at deepening regional cooperation in trade, security, infrastructure, and cultural exchange.

During his meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, President Rahmon praised the positive momentum in bilateral relations, noting that growing mutual understanding and friendship have contributed significantly to resolving longstanding issues, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the full implementation of previous agreements and to strengthening the role of key mechanisms such as the Intergovernmental Coordination Council and the Council for Trade and Economic Cooperation. Expanding cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as collaboration within regional and international organizations, were also highlighted as priorities.

The talks included a strong focus on joint efforts to safeguard regional stability and coordinate responses to modern security threats.

In a separate meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President Rahmon emphasized the "strategic and allied" nature of relations between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.

The two leaders discussed ways to revitalize the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and enhance trade ties. President Rahmon underscored the importance of the Treaty on Allied Relations as a foundation for expanding bilateral collaboration across multiple sectors.

With trade turnover between the two countries reaching $670 million in the first half of 2025, both sides expressed interest in further increasing trade volume, diversifying goods, and deepening cooperation in energy, industry, investment, and green technologies. Cultural and educational initiatives were also highlighted as key areas of future collaboration.

President Rahmon also met with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to review the current state of bilateral relations and discuss opportunities for deeper cooperation in light of evolving regional and global challenges.

The two leaders committed to enhancing partnerships in energy, industry, and agriculture-particularly in areas involving green technology and innovation. Plans were discussed for establishing joint ventures and increasing the export of industrial and agricultural products.

Infrastructure development, including in transportation and communications, was identified as a vital area for joint investment. Both presidents also emphasized the importance of expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation, with proposed initiatives such as cultural days and joint public events.
